About TruthAfrica
TruthAfrica investigates disinformation and influence operations shaping Africa’s information landscape
TruthAfrica is a collaborative initiative led by the Pravda Association, a leading Polish fact-checking and media literacy organisation, in partnership with Code for Africa’s iLAB, which investigates disinformation networks and influence operations that undermine democracy and fuel extremism. The project focuses on analysing, combating, and reporting on disinformation and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) across Africa. By leveraging information monitoring, investigative journalism, and data-driven analysis, TruthAfrica seeks to understand how disinformation shapes societies and influences democratic processes.

Focusing on key countries such as Nigeria, Algeria, Chad, Angola, Egypt, Uganda, and Zambia, the project enhances public awareness of the impact of disinformation while strengthening resilience against information manipulation. These countries were selected based on their susceptibility to disinformation and their strategic importance in the continent. Through open-source investigations, it provides evidence-based insights into evolving disinformation trends. Moreover, TruthAfrica bridges African and European audiences, highlighting how global narratives shape local realities.
